(AG E-portal)- - In the Mekong Delta, right after each harvest of winter-spring rice crop, farmers usually do not renovate land but they burn straw right on the fields then sow rice seeds for the next crop. However the burning of straw is a waste and major damage, both for the economy, health and environment. As estimated an average of 1 ton of straw containing 5 to 8 kg nitrogen, 1.2 kg of phosphorus, 20 kg of potassium, 40 kg of silica dioxide, 400 kg of carbon.
